It's official

It's official, I'm a soldier's wife. Sandi left yesterday for boot camp. He called at 4 this morning to say he got there safe. He said he felt a little out of place because all the new recruits were 18 or 19, single, and just going into the reserve. Also, his whole group he arrived with was from Alaska. They hadn't picked him up from the airport yet, but the recruiters said the yelling starts the moment your picked up. :) Should be fun.

It is tough that your husband volunteered to join the Army. One thing to be grateful about right now: He didn't volunteer YOU to join the Army. If you ever get lonely, don't hesitate to call.

I can't imagine anyone yelling at Sandi without picturing him giggle. I hope he does well and that you will have peace of mind. You both are always in our prayers.

I'm glad at least your waiting is over. Your family is in our prayers. If you need anything, ie cookies, you just let us know. I've got a bunch of new recipes now. I think the brandy or bourbon ones would be good for this situation. ;) We'll be keeping you and Sandi and the kids in our prayers.

For what it's worth, I think Rebekah and I can empathize to a small degree this week. Tim just left on a business trip until Wednesday and it sounds like Ben is coming out here tomorrow and will be here about as long if not longer so we can be lonely wives together. How do I cope? I just went to target and along with other things bought my two worst temptations. Oreos and cheetos. Let the comfort eating begin!
